Houston
Firm Hired by NCAA to Improve Clarity of Documents.
HOUSTON, TX- May 10, 2004 - Techstyle
Group LLC, a Houston-based company, has been retained by the National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to help it achieve clarity
for regulations and documents that govern student-athlete eligibility,
recruiting and other elements of intercollegiate athletics.
"Our company will assist the NCAA national office in reviewing NCAA rule
books and other publications to make them less complex and more understandable," said
Laurel Prokop, founder and president of Techstyle.
Techstyle will focus its efforts on publications produced by the
NCAA Membership Services department, which deals with NCAA legislation.
The intent is to
convert complicated NCAA regulations into "plain language" that is easily
understood.
"
Plain language is clearly written text-writing that is easily understood on first
reading," Prokop said.
Plain language has gained widespread support in all sectors of
the U.S. economy since 1998, when President Bill Clinton established
a federal government
initiative for plain language. The goal of this initiative is to save time,
effort, and
money by increasing audience understanding and compliance with clear, easy-to-understand
words.
